Dry Needling
Dry Needling and Acupuncture at Baysictechnique Physiotherapy
Struggling with tight, painful muscles or a sports injury that keeps hanging around? Dry needling is one of the most requested treatments at our Mount Druitt clinic, and for good reason. Our physiotherapists use fine, sterile needles to release trigger points, promote blood flow in tight muscles and speed up recovery.
We offer both dry needling and traditional acupuncture, and because our team is trained in both, you get the approach that actually suits your body rather than whichever one a clinic happens to sell.
What Is Dry Needling?
Dry needling therapy targets trigger points, the tight, tender knots that form in overworked muscles. A sterile acupuncture needle is inserted into the trigger point to stimulate blood flow, release the tension and help the muscle return to normal function.
Some soreness afterwards is normal. It can feel like you have overexerted the muscle, similar to a solid gym session, and it usually settles within a day or two. Drinking water and gentle movement help it pass faster.
Sessions are quick. Needling itself takes a few minutes per area and slots into a normal physiotherapy appointment alongside assessment and other treatment, so you are not paying for a separate service.
Dry needling works well for neck and shoulder tension,
lower back pain, sports injuries and stubborn muscle tightness that massage alone has not shifted.
Acupuncture: The Traditional Option
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese practice based on balancing energy flow through the body. Thin needles are placed at specific points to ease pain, improve function and support overall wellbeing. Our physiotherapists integrate acupuncture into treatment plans for clients who prefer it or respond better to it.
Everyone responds differently. Some people feel greater relief with dry needling, others with acupuncture, and during your consultation we will help you find the right fit rather than guessing.
Will Dry Needling Work for Me?
Here is the honest answer our physios give every patient: people tend to fall into a responder or non-responder group. Responders feel immediate improvement in pain, range of motion and function after needling. Non-responders will not be made worse, but they may feel no better than before the session.
That’s why we never treat dry needling as a stand-alone fix. It sits inside a proper plan alongside
exercise prescription, hands-on treatment and, where useful,
electroacupuncture, so your recovery never depends on one tool.
Clients come to us for dry needling from across Mount Druitt, Rooty Hill, St Clair, Minchinbury and the wider Western Sydney area, and many are referred by word of mouth from teammates and gym partners who felt the difference themselves.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does dry needling hurt?
Most people feel a brief twitch or dull ache as the needle reaches the trigger point, rather than sharp pain. Post-needling soreness for a day or two is normal and a sign the muscle has been worked.
What is the difference between dry needling and acupuncture?
Dry needling targets muscle trigger points to release tension and improve blood flow. Acupuncture follows traditional Chinese medicine principles using specific points on the body. We offer both at our Mount Druitt clinic.
How many dry needling sessions will I need?
It depends on your condition and how you respond. Responders often notice a difference after the first session. Your physiotherapist will give you an honest recommendation at your assessment.
Can I train after a dry needling session?
Light activity is usually fine, but we generally suggest easing off heavy training for the rest of the day while any post-needling soreness settles.
Is dry needling safe?
Performed by qualified physiotherapists using sterile, single-use needles, dry needling is a safe treatment for most people. We screen your health history first and will tell you plainly if it is not suitable for you.
