Ultrasound Therapy
Gentle Support for Soft Tissue Healing
Ultrasound therapy is one of the quieter tools in physiotherapy, and one of the gentlest. At Baysictechnique Physiotherapy in Mount Druitt, we use ultrasound equipment from BTL Industries to deliver high-frequency sound waves deep into injured soft tissue, supporting the body’s natural healing process.
The treatment is painless, non-invasive and typically used as part of a wider physiotherapy plan rather than on its own.
What Is Ultrasound Therapy?
Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to create gentle vibrations within soft tissue. Those vibrations help increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, promote tissue repair and relieve pain in the treated area.
During treatment, your physiotherapist applies a therapeutic gel and moves the ultrasound head over the injured area. You will feel gentle movement and perhaps mild warmth, and nothing more. Each session is tailored to your specific injury and condition, with the settings, depth and duration chosen for the tissue being treated rather than a one-size-fits-all dose.
What We Use Ultrasound For
Ultrasound therapy can help with muscle strains, ligament sprains, tendon injuries, shoulder, neck and back pain, sports injuries, scar tissue management, soft tissue inflammation and post-operative rehabilitation.
It is a supporting act rather than the headline. We combine it with manual therapy,
exercise prescription and movement education, because sound waves help tissue heal but they do not rebuild strength. For stubborn tendon problems that need a stronger stimulus,
shockwave therapy is often the better fit, and we will tell you which one your injury actually needs.
What to Expect at Your Session
Your appointment starts with an assessment of your symptoms so we can confirm ultrasound is appropriate for your condition. The treatment itself takes only minutes per area and slots into your session alongside other care.
Most people feel little during treatment and notice the benefit as gradual improvement across their program, less inflammation, easier movement, tissue that recovers better between sessions at our Mount Druitt clinic.
Sessions are unhurried and comfortable. Many clients use the ultrasound portion of their appointment as a moment to ask questions about their recovery, which suits us fine, an informed patient always rehabs better than a confused one.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does ultrasound therapy hurt?
No. Treatment is painless. You may feel gentle movement of the ultrasound head and slight warmth in the area, and that is all.
Is this the same ultrasound used for scans?
It uses the same sound wave principle, but therapeutic ultrasound is set up to stimulate healing in soft tissue rather than to create images.
How many sessions will I need?
Ultrasound is usually applied across several physiotherapy sessions as part of your broader treatment plan. Your physio will outline the expected course at your assessment.
Is ultrasound therapy safe?
Therapeutic ultrasound is a safe, well-established physiotherapy treatment when applied by qualified clinicians. We screen your condition first, as it is avoided over certain areas and in some circumstances.
